From Staff Reports

Sachse has been named one of Texas’ safest cities in a report announced last week by SafeWise.

The company helps consumers compare security options through education, awareness and preparation.

FBI crime data from 2013 was used to analyze and rank cities, which all have a minimum population of 10,000.

On the list of 50 Safest, Sachse ranked 11th with a score of 11.04 points, based on a total of .63 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 10.41 property crimes per 1,000. In 2013, there was only one robbery and just 50 burglaries reported in the community of more than 21,000.

Twice the city has been recognized with the Texas Municipal League Excellence Award for efforts to make sure Sachse is safe for residents.

Ranked as the Safest City in Texas was Murphy, with a total score of 6.50 from the crime data.

Nearby Wylie is ranked 18th with a score of 12.35.
