In an effort to help more animals find their forever home, the Sachse Shelter will participate Aug. 15 in a Clear the Shelters event.
The area-wide event, known last year as Empty the Shelter, is scheduled to run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sachse Shelter.
Over 40 shelters, up from 38 in 2014, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area will take part in the event.
During the special adoption event, all spayed and neutered animals will be available to the public at no cost, although other fees may apply.
The event will include municipal shelters, county shelters and non-profit shelters in an effort to place animals in homes.
NBC 5 and Telemundo 39 will serve as co-sponsors for the second straight year.
During last years adoption event 2,273 animals found homes from local shelters.

The shelter is open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
