Garland ISD rang in the new school year Aug. 20 with approximately 7,500 Garland ISD employees at the Curtis Culwell Event center.
Garland High School sophomore Grace Omer emceed the event.
“As a second-generation Owl, a proud FFA member, president of the Class of 2018, captain of the JV cheerleading squad and PTSA board member,” Superintendent Bob Morrison said. “The active and involved 15-year-old was an outstanding emcee candidate.”
