About 100 people came to city hall last weekend with bags and armloads full of unused or outdated prescriptions for disposal during the annual drug Take Back event. The service was free and completely anonymous.
The Sachse Police Department partnered with The Drug Enforcement Administration and hosted a National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day Oct. 26.
“We collected four large boxes of drugs weighing 79 pounds total,” Lt. Steve Norris said. “The idea was to provide a safe venue for persons who want to dispose of unwanted and unused prescription drugs. People kept thanking us and said they held on to the drugs because they simply didn’t know what to do with them.”
