Retired Lt. Col. Harold “Red” Smith brought a Vietnam era drone to the SHS program Nov. 7.

About 250 people braved a cold and rainy morning Nov. 7 to attend the annual Sachse Historical Society Veterans Day program held on the museum grounds.

The very jovial crowd grew silent at the start of the ceremony as SHS member Ed Brown presided over the “chiming in” ceremony which officially signified the start time of 11 a.m.

The time significance is related to the annual ceremony held at 11 a.m., each Nov. 11, at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery.
