Problems continue to mount as the TAPS public transit makes cuts to the agency to keep it afloat.
Their latest effort includes laying off 62 percent of their workforce.
TAPS Public Transit Interim CEO and Executive Director Tim Patton told employees in a meeting Nov. 18 that the agency will lay off 116 people, or 62 percent of its workforce, as part of a cost-cutting plan. TAPS has been operating through a financial crisis since it discovered that this year’s budget would fall short.
