City Council approved a unanimous resolution authorizing a purchase order in the amount not to exceed $70,000 to GT Construction, Incorporated for concrete pavement replacement to Woodbridge Parkway at the intersection of Sachse Road.

“Woodbridge Parkway is classified as a minor arterial road in the city,” City Engineer Greg Peters said.  “There are multiple concrete panels on Woodbridge Parkway which are failing and require replacement. In addition, there are several sections of concrete curb that are damaged.”

Peters explained that Collin County has a purchasing cooperative, which allows participating cities, towns, school districts, colleges, and other public entities to utilize price agreements of other participants in the program. The city of Sachse is a participant in the program, and has utilized this cooperative in the past for pavement replacement.

Peters said the city of Wylie, also part of the cooperative, publicly bid a price agreement contract for concrete in 2014. As a result, Wylie initiated an annual price agreement with three contractors. The agreement has an initial 1-year term, with the option for four additional 1-year terms. GT Construction, Inc., was one of the three contractors included in the Wylie price agreement.
