From Staff Reports
The annual Sachse High School student talent extravaganza showcased some top notch
singers, dancers, rappers, and musicians Feb. 5 at the school auditorium. From singers to dancers, everyone who danced, sang, told jokes, played an instrument on the stage brought his or her own talent to the show, received great reactions from the audience at the end of each act.
The class of 2016 officer sponsors coordinated the student talent show.
A panel of local residents judged the entries based on stage presence, appearance, audience response and overall performance. Judges were Mayor Mike Felix, Patty Mathis, Jennifer Bensvades, Elise Martinez and Fire Chief Martin Wade.
Felix said it was a very impressive group of kids.
“I was especially pleased with all their enthusiasm,’ he said. “They all showed very positive showmanship and good sportsmanship. Dancers were great and there were so many beautiful voices. It was an incredibly hard decision for the judges.”
But in the end the judges awarded drummers extraordinaire “The Trashettes” with first place. Second place was garnered by Rodnesha Hill and the duet of Sam Upton and Hayden Fields placed third.
Class sponsor Leann Weldon said that the purpose of the show was to raise money for scholarships “Everyone was excited about the show because there was something for everyone to enjoy,” Leann said. “The enormous amount of talent was obvious throughout the entire performance.”
