A group of Sachse High School students is working to promote a language and culture not shared by many Texans.
The French club holds movie nights, plays games, tries new food, volunteers in the community and learns about life in French-speaking countries.
“Meetings are mostly get-togethers where we have snacks and games,” said junior Rhea Batitang. “We had a Valentine’s party with the other languages – we all got to experience different aspects of the Spanish, German and ASL (American Sign Language) clubs. We got to dive into French films. People coordinating the parties and games are mostly in the French Honor Society. French club is open to anyone – it’s really welcoming.”
Anyone can join the French club; all that’s required is a desire to learn about the culture. French Honor Society, on the other hand, is only open to students in French 3 or 4.
