After finding themselves near the top in class academic rankings their freshmen year at Wylie High School, Aidan Gardiner and Troy Sargent buckled down to successfully capture valedictorian and salutatorian honors, respectively, for the Class of 2019.
Gardiner compiled a 5.63 grade point on a 6.0 scale as valedictorian and Sargent is completing his WHS career with a 5.6017 average as salutatorian.
After their freshmen year, Sargent was ranked 15th in the class and Gardiner was ranked third.
“As a freshman, I realized that if I was near the top 10, I could get a scholarship,” Sargent said. “I never thought I would be salutatorian or valedictorian.”
