Oxford Glen Memory Care Center is raising awareness for a disease that will end up affecting most Americans.
An Alzheimer’s caregiver symposium is set for Saturday, June 1 at Oxford Glen. The event kicks off at 9 a.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. A town hall session with U.S. Representative Colin Allred (District 32) will begin at 3 p.m.
Discussions will center around how to give the best care to loved ones suffering from Alzheimer’s. A variety of presenters will set up tables for caregivers to peruse.
“We want to give people resources,” said Jenni Knutson, executive director of Oxford Glen. “Vendors will be guiding each person on how to fill out a worksheet. By the end of it, everyone will have a workbook to take home. For those unable to leave the house because they have someone to take care of, they can bring them. We’ll have activities for Alzheimer’s patients.”
