New restaurant is all about community

by | Jun 17, 2019 | Latest

The owners of Sachse’s newest restaurant have several goals in mind: create a family-friendly atmosphere, cook excellent food and reduce the number of citizens going hungry.

Community BBQ and Grill officially opened its doors Tuesday, June 4. Although they focus on barbecue and all the fixings, they also serve typical grill items like steak, burgers and chicken.

According to Pit Master Charlie Cheshire, it’s been a fast-paced journey from inception to opening. He and longtime friend Jeff Browning, the restaurant’s owner, got the idea in November 2018 and made a deal for the building’s lease the same month. Britt Hammond, who has a background in restaurant management and entertainment, joined the team as general manager soon afterwards.

In the past six months, the trio refurbished the building that formerly housed Steak Kountry and Laguna Madre Traders. They also developed a menu, created social media accounts, hired more staff members, perfected their smoking and grilling techniques, and – most importantly for Cheshire – developed a strategy for making a difference in Sachse.
