With longer days, warmer temperatures and less rain, summer has much to offer. However, the aspects that make summer lovely can also make it challenging.
In fact, cities across the U.S. are taking notice – June is National Safety Month.
According to Police Chief Bryan Sylvester, summer heralds in specific safety issues each year.
“Leaving children and pets unattended is a big concern,” he said. “Never leave them unattended in vehicles.”
Last year, Texas led the nation in deaths due to hyperthermia. Since 1991, 120 Texan children have died from being left in hot cars.
