New budget approved in Garland ISD

by | Jul 4, 2019 | Latest

In a unanimous decision last week, Garland ISD trustees voted to approve the 2019-20 budget.

They met Tuesday, June 25 to consider it for approval. They calculated numbers using 2018 state funding formulas, but will have to amend it later when Texas’ new formulas are released.

Major changes affecting GISD include a decrease in revenue generated by property taxes, and an increase in state funding.

The total budget is $610.6 million. This is divided into three parts: $486.6 million for maintenance and operations, $86.2 million for debt service and $37.8 million for student nutrition. This is a 2.6 percent increase from last year’s $587.3 million budget.
