Construction on a project more than a decade in the making has officially started.
City officials joined with representatives from PMB Capital Investments, President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT), Ashton Woods Homes and K. Hovnanian Homes to break ground on The Station Wednesday, July 3.
The Station is a 119-acre mixed-use development bordering PGBT, Merritt Road, Miles Road and Hudson Drive. Plans include 250 single-family units, 300 multi-family units, townhomes, parks and space for restaurants, offices and retail.
“This one project will impact Sachse’s future,” said Mayor Mike Felix, who spoke during the groundbreaking ceremony. “We’ve dreamed about what will put us forward as a city. We’ve been waiting for this destination. I think we’ll have what we’ve promised our citizens.”
