City Manager’s proposed budget to be presented to city council Aug. 19.

Sachse Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff hosted a budget town hall Tuesday, Aug. 13 to discuss the budget process, projects, and a future timeline.

Bickerstaff presented the following timeline for the budget process:

  • City Manager’s proposed budget presented to City Council on Aug. 19
  • Public hearing on budget on Sept. 3
  • Public hearing on tax rate on Sept. 16
  • Adopt budget and tax rate on Sept. 16

City Manager Gina Nash said earlier in August the base preliminary budget for 2024-25 estimates a valuation of $4.64 billion and a tax rate of 0.650 per $100 of assessed value. Nash recommends keeping the same tax rate from 2023-24.

For revenues, property tax shows a preliminary growth of 9% to $18.17 million and sales tax rose 12% to $3.2 million. The total preliminary budget grew 9% to $29.73 million from the prior years’ $27.2 million.
