New fall event planned

by | Oct 10, 2024 | Latest

Sachse is kicking off the fall season with an all-new, all-day celebration that’s bound to become a city favorite.

This year, in response to residents’ call for more events, the Parks and Recreation Department is transforming the beloved Pumpkin Prowl into Fall-O-Ween, bringing more activities, excitement and seasonal magic to Heritage Park on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“As Fall-O-Ween is an expansion of the city’s original Pumpkin Prowl, we have incorporated popular elements such as the pumpkin hunt and costume contest into the new format,” said Esther Weaver, communications strategist.

The event will also coordinate with the Sachse Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which will begin at 9:45 a.m. in Heritage Park.

“We are excited to support their mission and the work they are accomplishing in our community,” Weaver said.

Artisan craft vendors and pumpkin decorating will be among the new events at Fall-O-Ween. A cornhole tournament is also on the schedule, and registration is still open. Teams consist of two individuals, and children are eligible if their teammate is an adult. The winners of the championship game will receive a plaque.

A costume contest, witches cackling contest and werewolf howling contest will give attendees other chances to win prizes. Other attractions guests can look forward to include food trucks, carnival games, a caricature artist, pony rides and more.

Music, dance and magic will be performed on the stage over the course of the day.

At 6 p.m., children should grab their costumes and candy sacks and get ready for the pumpkin and candy hunt where 5,000 pumpkins and loads of sweet treats will be ready for hunting on the baseball field.
