Drought is the most common cause of economic loss in the agriculture industry, but Collin County farmers suffer more from riverine flooding, when streams and rivers exceed the capacity of their natural or constructed channels to accommodate water flow and water overflows the banks, spilling out into adjacent low-lying, dry land.
Riverine flooding can inundate farmland, damage crops, and disrupt planting and harvest cycles.
