Space is still available for residents who are interested in helping make a difference in their community during emergencies and other times of need.
The Sachse Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is offering basic disaster response training Feb. 22 and March 1, with both sessions required for certification. Once completed, participants will be eligible to join the Sachse CERT team.
Sachse CERT, a volunteer organization that assists the city in disaster preparedness and response, offers the training to equip participants with essential emergency skills. The two-day course, known as G-317, covers disaster preparedness, fire safety, light search and rescue, medical operations and disaster psychology.
The class is open to individuals 18 and older, or 16 with parental consent and participation. The cost is $25 per person or $40 per household, and breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.
