Two Sachse High School students qualified for All-State Band after the final auditions in mid-January. Joseph Figarelli, trumpet, and Andrew Samuel, clarinet, will perform with the Top 6A Symphonic Band on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the TMEA Annual Clinic and Convention.

“Less than 2.6% (of students who audition) earn the distinction of a TMEA All-State musician,” said Director of Bands Holly Taylor, “163 students will be performing in the top 6A Symphonic Band.”

Sachse hosted the first round of auditions for its region in early December. According to Taylor, more than 1,500 students attended the first audition.

“Students selected get the privilege to perform in their respective groups with world-renowned conductors at the TMEA Annual Clinic and Convention, which is the largest music convention in United States,” Taylor said.

Qualifying musicians have the opportunity to spend three days in San Antonio working with conductors and other students to perform a concert on the final day of the conference.
