Sachse track and field athletes qualify for Region II-6A meet

Sachse qualified for this weekend’s Region II-6A meet in 11 events and won two titles at last Thursday’s 9-6A/10-6A area meet at Wylie ISD Stadium.

Senior Kamryn Harry is a regional qualifier in three events. He edged Lakeview Centennial senior Montre Jackson in a photo finish to win the area title in the 100 dash. Harry recorded a time of 10.52, one-tenth of a second faster than Jackson’s 10.53. Harry also finished second in the 400 with a 48.75 and captured third place in the 200 with a 21.65.

Sophomore Abigail Leonard began the day by winning the 3,200 with an 11:23.74 and added a third-place finish in the 1,600 in a time of 5:20.7.

Fellow sophomore Samuel Ledbetter punched his ticket into the area meet in those same events. He ran the second in the boys’ division of the 3,200 in 9:46.47 and to fourth overall in the 1,600 with a time of 4:33.27.

Junior Cameryn Fair had a big day in the sprints. She placed second in the 200 (11.96), fourth in the 200 (25.03) and also teamed with Kyla George, Jaeda Bradshaw and Trinity Thompson in the 4×100, where they earned second place (48.02).

Sachse’ 4×200 of George, Bradshaw, Kennedy Wesley and Thompson took fourth place (1:42.26).
