Voters head to polls Saturday

by | May 1, 2025 | Latest

Sachse voters who missed early voting still have one final opportunity to cast their ballots during the general election on Saturday, May 3.

Several contested races will be decided, including mayor and two city council seats.

Incumbent Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff faces challenger Matthew Holboke. In the race for Councilmember Place 5, incumbent Lindsay Buhler is seeking a second term and is being challenged by Rafay Sheikh.

For Councilmember Place 6, incumbent Matt Prestenberg faces Gurvinder Singh.

Voters will also weigh in on whether to reauthorize the city’s street maintenance sales and use tax at the rate of one-fourth (1/4) of a cent. Revenue from the tax is used for street maintenance and repairs.

Sachse residents who live in Garland ISD will find three school board places on the ballot. In Place 1, incumbent Larry Glick is challenged by Stephane Rovelo. Place 2 incumbent Johnny Beach and Place 3 incumbent Linda Griffin are both seeking reelection without opposition.

For Collin County residents, three seats on the nine-member Collin College Board of Trustees are up for election. Trustees serve six-year terms.

In Place 4, candidates Staci Weaver and Tamara Thomas are vying for the seat previously held by Greg Gomel. Place 5 incumbent Raj Menon is running unopposed, while Place 6 candidate Justin Adcock is also unopposed after incumbent Stacy Arias withdrew from the race.

Collin County voting locations include the MJF Community Center, Rooms A and B, 3815 E. Sachse Road in Sachse, and the Collin College Wylie Campus, 391 Country Club Road in Wylie.
