Voters in Sachse, Garland Independent School District and Collin College made decisions Saturday on a range of local races, re-electing several incumbents and approving a city of Sachse proposition to fund road maintenance.

In Sachse, Mayor Jeff Bickerstaff secured a second term by defeating challenger Matthew Holboke with 61.49% of the vote, or 1,464 ballots cast in his favor. Holboke received the remaining 38.51%. Incumbent Lindsay Buhler held her Place 5 seat on the City Council with 69.67% of the vote, or 1,723 votes, defeating Rafay Sheikh. In the Place 6 contest, incumbent Matt Prestenberg defeated Gurvinder Singh with 62.64% or 1,568 votes.
Voters also approved Proposition A, a measure to continue the city’s street maintenance sales tax. The measure passed with 81.19% in support, receiving 1,917 votes.
In the Garland Independent School District trustee election, Larry Glick retained his Place 1 seat with 61.61% of the vote, or 8,381 votes cast. Places 2 and 3 incumbents, Johnny Beach and Linda Griffin, were unopposed in their re-election bids.
Collin County voters selected three members to the Collin College Board of Trustees. In the contested Place 4 race, Staci L. Weaver won with 58.20% of the vote, or 37,166 ballots, defeating Tamara Thomas, who earned 41.80%, or 26,694 votes. Incumbent Trustee Raj Menon ran unopposed for Place 5 and received 45,680 votes. For Place 6, Justin Adcock also ran unopposed after incumbent Stacy Arias withdrew from the race, earning 45,828 votes.
Election results remain unofficial until canvassed by each respective entity.
