The Sachse City Council has given Police Chief Bryan Sylvester the green light to apply for a grant that would fund the deployment of five high-tech cameras designed to help the police department solve crimes across the city.
Council members voted unanimously at their Monday, May 19 regular meeting to allow Sylvester to seek a $19,000 municipal grant to install Flock Safety cameras along major thoroughfares. The cameras, Sylvester said, would capture high-detail images of license plates, which police staff could use to track suspects involved in criminal activity. The city would retain the data for a limited time before deleting it.
