The Survey says: Sachse score high on safety

by | Jun 19, 2025 | Area News, Latest

Sachse ranked No. 17 in the SafeWise survey of safest Texas cities.

Four of the “safest” cities in Texas are in Collin County, according to a new survey using FBI crime data. SafeWise ranked Parker at No. 2, Melissa at No. 5, Murphy at No. 11 and Van Alstyne at No. 13. Sachse, which straddles Collin and Dallas Counties, was ranked No. 17.

“Sachse continues to be one of the safest cities in Texas due, in large part, to our residents looking out for one another and partnering with our police department towards the prevention of crime through our robust community engagement programming, volunteerism and support of initiatives and technology aimed at mitigating opportunity for crime in our community,” Police Chief Bryan Sylvester said.

With a population of 32,671, Sachse reported a violent crime rate of 0.4 per 1,000 residents and property crime of 8.2 per thousand.

The 2025 reporting year is based on the most recent FBI data released in October 2024 covering crimes committed in calendar year 2023.
