Park visits encouraged during National Parks and Recreation Month

by | Jul 24, 2025 | Latest

Sachse’s National Parks and Recreation Month festivities have had a strong start, and there are more chances to celebrate before the end of July.

At the June 16 city council meeting, Sachse Parks and Recreation staff members were celebrated as the proclamation to recognize July as National Parks and Recreation Month in Sachse was presented. A sneak peek of the Parks and Recreation Month raffle contest was also given at the meeting.

Residents can enter to win a basket of items valued at over $1,000 by visiting parks and then posting photos to Facebook. Participants who visit all 10 parks will earn an extra entry.

The contest has brought community members to local parks throughout the month.

“We have a couple families who have made it out to all of the parks, earning their double entry, so there is great competition this year,” Leisure Services Coordinator Jordan Beaulieu said.

Contest entries will be accepted through Thursday, July 31.

Remaining activities this month include a Teen Hogwarts Night and a visit to Sachse Public Library for their Summer Send-Off party. The Hogwarts Night is free and open for 12 to 17-year-olds. Caricatures and a live owl appearance are just part of the activities planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 24. Dressing in house colors is encouraged.

The Summer Send-Off party will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, and the Parks and Recreation team will bring Traveling Recreational Activities in Nature (T.R.A.I.N.) games and crafts.
