End of an era: Taco Delite serves final customers

by | Jul 31, 2025 | Area News, Latest

Taco Delite in Wylie opened its doors in 1987 and closed its doors for good last weekend. The owners report the property has been sold.

Customers yearning for one last taste of Taco Delite braved long lines both inside and out last week after longtime Wylie owners Melisa and Terry Greaves announced they were closing the beloved local restaurant.

The decision, shared via social media on Monday, July 21, triggered an emotional outpouring from the community and a surge of business so strong that the couple had to close a day earlier than planned.

“We knew people would come in and visit and say bye,” Melisa said. “But people are saying, ‘We’re eating here every single day until you guys are gone.’ When everybody’s doing that, it’s just beautiful, … it’s overwhelming and scary.”
