Train Day connects past to present

by | Jul 31, 2025 | Latest

The Choo Choo Express’ conductor offers rides to visitors of all ages during the second annual Train Day Saturday, July 26. The trackless train’s route began near the former location of Sachse’s original train depot and traveled to the Sachse Caboose.

The Sachse Historical Society engineered a full day of fun for their second annual Train Day Saturday, July 26.

Beginning at 10 a.m., visitors received a map at whichever “depot” was their first stop. Once the map was stamped at the Sachse Caboose, the Historical Society Museum and the Community Center, it could be turned in for a prize. There were approximately 150 attendees according to Historical Society Secretary Tricia Lindsey. Each of the three stops had a unique railroad-related experience.

The Caboose was open for tours of its interior, which included a diorama of Sachse’s layout in the early 1900s.
