The Sachse Mustangs fell to the Coppell Cowboys 28-20 in their season opener despite a second half comeback Friday night at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

Senior quarterback Dirk Williams Jr., who led Sachse with rushing 109 yards, had two touchdowns in the second half. The Mustangs looked like a different team after halftime, much more aggressive on both defense and offense.

Mustangs head coach Mark “Red” Behrens said it was a good game despite the final score because it shows them what they need to work on.
