Wylie East outscored Sachse 21-0 in the second half to pull away for a 38-7 win at Homer B. Johnson Stadium on Friday.

The Raiders (5-0 overall, 3-0 in District 9-6A) built a 17-0 lead less than two minutes into the second quarter on the power of a Jonathan Utubor rushing touchdown, a 36-yard field goal by Geovani Darquea and a Brysan Muller punt block return for a touchdown.

Sachse made it a game late in the second quarter.

Junior quarterback Christian McCaffrey drove the Mustangs down the field on a seven-play, 57-yard drive that ended with a 27-yard touchdown reception by senior Dirk Williams Jr. For a moment, it appeared that Williams Jr. was going to get tackled two yards short of the line to gain. However, he broke free of the Wylie East defender and ran into the end zone as Sachse reduced its deficit to 17-7.

Williams Jr. had six catches for 43 yards. McCaffrey completed 12 of 29 passes for 139 yards with a touchdown but threw three interceptions.

But for the second straight game, Wylie East used a dominant second half to pull away from a District 9-6A opponent.
