ARLINGTON — Sachse junior Samuel Ledbetter has qualified for the Class 6A state cross country meet for the first time while fellow junior Abigail Leonard is bound for Round Rock for the second time over the last three seasons.
Ledbetter earned his spot at the state meet after he ran to 12th place with a time of 16:10.7 at the Region II-6A meet at Harold Patterson Sports Center on Tuesday morning.
Leonard will join Ledbetter in Round Rock after she placed 23rd in the girls’ 5-kilometer race with a time of 19:32.31.
For Leonard, it marks the first time since her freshman season that she has qualified for the state meet.
The Class 6A state meet is set for Saturday, Nov. 1 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. The girls’ race will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the boys’ race at 10:10.
