Sachse relied on defensive pressure from start to finish to secure a 45-36 road win over Wylie East on Friday night in District 9-6A boys basketball action.

Wylie East came out with early energy, setting the tone in the opening quarter behind strong defense and interior scoring. Praise Olufemi energized the home crowd with a fast-break dunk as the Raiders jumped out to a 10-5 lead. Sachse responded with physical man-to-man defense to slow the pace, but Wylie East carried an 11-9 advantage into the second quarter.

Play remained physical on both ends in the second, as Olufemi finished through contact early to give the Raiders a brief edge, but Sachse answered behind shot-making from Miles Johnson, who knocked down a contested jumper to swing momentum.

John Dupont followed with a strong finish inside to extend the Mustangs’ lead.

Wylie East stayed within striking distance when Josiah Ward converted a tough layup just before the break, trimming the deficit to 22-18 at halftime.

Sachse seized control coming out of the half.

The Mustangs opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer and a jumper, forcing a Wylie East timeout as the lead quickly stretched to nine. From there, Sachse’s man-to-man defense took over, limiting clean looks and disrupting the Raiders’ offensive rhythm. The Mustangs extended the advantage to 32-18 midway through the quarter as Wylie East struggled to generate scoring opportunities.
