Filing opens for City Council races

Sachse voters will head to the polls May 2, to elect members of the city council in the general election.

Two council seats are on the ballot.

As of Jan 19, incumbent Frank Millsap has filed for reelection to Place 3. Millsap was first elected to the Sachse City Council in November 2020.

Gurvinder Singh has filed as a candidate for Place 4, which is currently held by Chance Lindsey.

The first day to apply for a ballot by mail was Jan. 1. Candidate packets were available beginning Jan. 5, and the first day to file for a place on the ballot was Jan. 14. The filing deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 13. The last day to register to vote for the May election is April 2.

Early voting will run from April 20 through April 28. Voters who reside in Dallas County may cast ballots at any vote center within the county, including Sachse City Hall, Courtroom, 3815-B Sachse Road. Dallas County early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 through April 24, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25, noon to 6 p.m. April 26, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 27 and April 28.

Sachse voters who reside in Collin County may vote at any vote center within Collin County, including the Michael J. Felix Community Center, Room A/B, 3815-E Sachse Road. Collin County early voting hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 20 through April 24, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 25, no voting April 26, and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 27 and April 28.

The last day to submit an application for a ballot by mail is April 21, by the close of business at the county elections office.

Election Day voting will be held May 2 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dallas County voters may vote at any vote center within the county, including Sachse City Hall, Courtroom, 3815-B Sachse Road; BG Hudson Middle School, Practice Gym, 4405 Hudson Drive; and First United Methodist Church of Sachse, Gym, 1520 Blackburn Road. Collin County voters may vote at any vote center within Collin County, including the Michael J. Felix Community Center, Room A/B, in Sachse.
