In a battle of regional finalists from last season, the Sachse Lady Mustangs cruised to a 4-1 win over Wylie East on Thursday and improved to 4-0 in District 9-6A.
Oregon pledge Clara Dowdle had two goals and one assist, while Oklahoma commit Kate McCallister contributed one goal and one assist. Lia Lopez had one goal. Talya Chacon posted one assist.
It was the seventh straight win for Sachse (10-2 overall).
On the boys’ side, Sachse is 3-1 in district competition, with its latest victory being a 3-0 shutout of District 9-6A rival Wylie East (0-3 district).
Senior Julian Hinojosa, junior Aiden Ronquillo and sophomore Matvey Strelchik each scored one goal. Ronquillo and Strelchik added one assist apiece.
Sachse racked up 10 shots on goal with three total shots.
Sophomore Josiah Alvarez (three saves in 61 minutes) and senior Mathew Aguilar (one save in 19 minutes) combined for a clean sheet in goal.
