A new exhibit marking the nation’s semiquincentennial invites visitors to step inside the daily lives, labor and political awakening of Revolutionary-era America at the Brown House.

“A celebration of America 250,” which opened last month in downtown Wylie, was planned nearly a year in advance by museum curator Tracy Lawson and brings together hands-on learning, historical interpretation and period craftsmanship to explore how independence was shaped not only on the battlefield, but on the homefront.

Lawson said the exhibit was proposed in April 2025, with research beginning shortly afterward and costume creation underway by June.
