GEORGETOWN – Although Sachse head boys basketball coach Micah Moore watched his squad fall into a 10-2 deficit five minutes into its Region II-6A Division I semifinal against Cypress Ranch, he never questioned the resiliency of his Mustangs.

A few days earlier, Moore saw Sachse overcome a 10-point deficit with six minutes left in the fourth quarter to force overtime, eventually defeating Waxahachie 46-45 in the area round to punch its ticket to the regional semifinals for the first time in the school’s history.

Against Cypress Ranch, Sachse weathered an early storm before clawing its way back into the March 3 postseason game at East View High School. But after getting as close as one point late in the first quarter and again during the opening minute of the second quarter, Sachse’s offense struggled to score against the length of Cypress Ranch’s defense.

Sachse was held to two points over the final six minutes of the first half and could never recover in a season-ending 67-41 loss.
