The Sachse girls soccer team has dominated in District 9-6A competition, and the Lady Mustangs have a conference title to show for it.
Sachse pummeled South Garland 8-0 Friday to earn the Lady Mustangs with their 17th consecutive victory. It was the fifth straight shutout for Sachse, which has outscored its district opponents 88-3 on the season.
The boys’ standings in 9-6A are even tighter.
Lakeview Centennial, with 37 points, is one point ahead of Sachse’s 36. However, the Mustangs have a game in hand with the Patriots and can win the district title with victories over Naaman Forest and Rowlett. Naaman Forest’s last game of the regular season was against Wylie on Tuesday. The Pirates come in with 32 points and are guaranteed a top-three finish in the 9-6A standings.
A 6-0 win over South Garland on Friday moved the Mustangs closer to a district championship. The Mustangs led 3-0 at halftime before outscoring the Titans 3-0 in the second half. Senior Cameron Sparks had a big seven-point outing with three goals and one assist. Senior Julian Hinojosa notched two goals. Sophomore Jonathan Pacheco finished with one goal. Goalkeepers Josiah Alvarez and Mathew Aguilar combined for a clean sheet. They faced just three shots on goal.
