The discussion focused on how Grigg’s office processes checks delivered by residents paying taxes and assorted fees.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Duncan Webb pulled a consent agenda item for discussion, citing an apparent conflict between Grigg’s office and county-approved policies followed by Auditor Robert Cone.
Webb expressed concern that “an elected county official” was defying a commissioners court-approved policy governing how the auditor operates his office. At issue was the processing of tax payments to the assessor-collector’s office.
Commissioners called Grigg forward to explain the situation. He said he is operating a department that is significantly short of the personnel needed to open, process and deposit the tax revenue mail his office collects daily.
