Sachse junior Maya McClarity went a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate with 10 RBIs and two home runs, part of a 20-hit attack for the Sachse softball team in a 20-4 rout of North Garland on Wednesday.
The Lady Mustangs scored at least one run in all but one inning, capped off by an 11-run outburst in the top of the fifth.
McClarity’s first home run — a three-run shot — gave Sachse a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kendyl Cruz and Alicia Payne, who reached on a single and double, respectively, scored on McClarity’s home run.
McClarity’s second home run — also a three-run shot — extended Sachse’s lead to 7-0 in the top of the second.
Every Sachse batter recorded at least one hit.
Cruz set the tables well at the top of the Lady Mustangs’ batting order, going 3-for-5 with one RBI and four runs. Xochitl Mendoza had three hits, including a triple.
Jaycie Watson notched the pitching win, allowing four runs over five innings with four strikeouts.
