Sachse junior Maya McClarity and the Lady Mustangs’ offense continue to produce at the plate.
McClarity went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBIs, and Kendyl Cruz added three hits, one RBI and four runs scored to lead Sachse to a 13-3 run-rule win in five innings over Naaman Forest on Wednesday.
Sachse (11-4 in District 9-6A) did all of its damage over the first four innings while extending its winning streak to five games.
McClarity and Jaycie Watson hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the first inning to give the Lady Mustangs a 2-0 lead. Sachse added four more runs in the second. Brooke Robinson drove in the fifth run with an RBI double, and McClarity followed with an RBI single to make it 6-0.
Sachse can clinch a playoff berth with a win over Rowlett on Friday or a Wylie East loss to Wylie that same night.
The Sachse baseball team also had success against Naaman Forest.
Jacob Ponce collected two hits and drove in five runs, and the Mustangs finished with five extra-base hits in a 12-2 run-rule win over the Rangers on Tuesday in five innings.
Ponce ignited a three-run first inning with an RBI double. Greyson Darden followed with an RBI triple, and Aidan Sabolski added an RBI single through the left side to make it 3-0.
Sachse scored two runs in the second, two in the fourth and then broke the game open with six runs in the fifth. A two-run double by Darden invoked the run rule and ended the game.
That was more than enough support for Alex Moreno, who struck out 10 over 4 1/3 innings. Matthew Hudgins struck out two in 2/3 of an inning.
Sachse won its sixth straight and improved to 11-2 in District 9-6A.
