The Sachse City Council on Monday approved a zoning change allowing Garland ISD to move forward with construction of an agricultural barn where students can care for farm animals.
The ordinance changes a four-acre tract from residential zoning to an agricultural district. Council members voted unanimously, following a motion by Mayor pro tem Brett Franks, to approve the request.
Before the vote, several residents voiced opposition, describing the project as a “bus barn” that could create traffic hazards for nearby neighborhoods.
