Golfers from Sachse concluded their seasons last week at the Region II-6A tournament.
The Lady Mustangs placed 12th with a 758.
Junior Valerie Dunaway paced the Lady Mustangs, tying for 44th with a 181. Hunter Cheek, also a junior, placed 53rd with a 187. Senior Natalie Cheek shot a 197 to finish 56th. Junior Hannah Hoeinghaus tied for 60th with a 199, and junior Ava Schwartz placed 75th with a 217.
On the boys’ side, Sachse cut 55 strokes off its team total from last year’s regional tournament. Despite that improvement, the Mustangs’ bid for a state berth was thwarted by strong performances from The Woodlands, Grand Oaks and Tomball.
Sachse placed fifth with a team score of 606. The cutoff for a top-three finish and a state berth was 586, shot by Tomball and Grand Oaks. The Woodlands won the tournament with an 11-under-par 561.
Senior Dylan Wisener came within two strokes short of qualifying for state, placing 10th with a 146, including an even-par 71 in the second round. Wisener recorded four birdies in the final round, including three over the final eight holes.
Junior Andrew Scott, fresh off a district title, finished one stroke behind Wisener, shooting a 147 to tie for 11th place.
Junior Landon Hilario placed 33rd with a 154, sophomore Jayden Chu finished 42nd with a 159 and junior Kayden Massey placed 76th with a 182.
