The Sachse softball team saw its season come to an end after a 10-0 loss to Rockwall-Heath in Game 2 of a Class 6A Division I bi-district playoff series last Thursday at Rockwall-Heath High School.
The Lady Mustangs struggled offensively throughout the series, managing just three total hits across two games. In Game 2, Sachse was limited to a single hit — a double by Jaycie Watson.
For the second straight game, Rockwall-Heath set the tone early.
The Lady Hawks capitalized on a defensive miscue in the bottom of the first inning, scoring four runs on an error to take a 4-0 lead. They continued to build momentum, as Taylor Scott added a two-run single in the second inning to extend the advantage to 6-0. Back-to-back RBI singles in the third pushed the lead to 8-0.
Sachse did have opportunities, putting at least one runner on base in each of the first four innings, but couldn’t convert those chances into runs. The Lady Mustangs’ best opportunity came in the second inning when a walk by Cailyn Shane loaded the bases. However, a pickoff at third base shifted the momentum, and a lineout ended the threat.
