Sachse senior Cameryn Fair earned the wild card spot in the Class 6A state meet in the long jump after placing third with a leap of 19-2 at the Region II-6A meet at Waco Midway’s Panther Stadium.

The top two finishers in each event automatically qualified for state and the athlete with the top third-place finisher across all four regions advances to state. Her leap of 19-2 punched her ticket to Austin.

“I did believe her distance was strong enough to qualify with the wild card, especially since she was already sitting in the top 10 for the state of Texas and in the strongest region,” head coach Jennifer Gold said. “I truly believe she has what it takes to win gold at the state level. I’m incredibly proud of her. She’s an extraordinary athlete and a true competitor who doesn’t let nerves affect her when she steps on the big stage.”
