Members of the city council approved a resolution to allow a purchase order in the amount not to exceed $80,000 to Reynolds Asphalt and Construction Company, Inc. for asphalt roadway improvement projects.
Four asphalt roads are being improved this fiscal year through the use of Street Maintenance Tax funds. The asphalt roadways listed in the Capital Improvement Plan this fiscal year include 6th Street from 5th Street to Sachse Street; 2nd Street from Bonanza Drive to Sachse Street; Sachse Street from Ben Davis to 3rd Street and Meadowcreek from Westcreek to its end.
Director of Public Works and Engineering, Greg Peters said the contractor is currently re-constructing those roads.
“There is currently an additional $80,000 in available SMT funding for additional street maintenance projects this year,” he said. “Staff has utilized and completed the pavement surface evaluation rating system. Staff is continuing to review and score streets throughout the city, with the goal of completing a PASER evaluation for all Sachse streets.”
City staff has reviewed the streets that have been evaluated using the PASER system, and recommends the following projects be selected based upon PASER rating and available funds. Those include Sachse Street from 5th Street to 6th Street at an estimated cost of $20,000 and Salmon Street from Hwy. 78 to 3407 Salmon Street at an estimated cost of $51,200.
