Jerod Potts has been promoted to Director of Economic Development

The city of Sachse has announced the promotion of Jerod Potts to Director of Economic Development, effective October 1. Potts previously held the position of Economic Development Manager.

City Manager Gina Nash praised Potts for his exceptional leadership and commitment to community growth. “Jerod’s extensive experience in economic development, combined with his background in city planning, makes him uniquely qualified for this role,” Nash said. “He has the technical expertise and understanding of the development process necessary to bridge the gap between developers and staff, ensuring that projects are visionary yet achievable.”

In response to his promotion, Potts expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve Sachse.

“It’s been an honor serving this wonderful community and I look forward to continuing my work with a great team to help Sachse reach its goals,” he said.

Potts has been with the city of Sachse since 2021, initially serving as Assistant to the City Manager for Economic Development before becoming Economic Development Manager in June 2022. His focus has been on business retention, expansion and attraction, working closely with the city manager and the Sachse Economic Development Corporation.

Before joining Sachse, Potts spent nearly eight years with the city of Southlake, where he served as Policy & Strategic Initiative Principal Planner. There, he led efforts in comprehensive planning, citizen engagement, strategic management and process improvements.

Potts is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), Texas City Management Association (TCMA), and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

He is also certified as a planner (AICP) by the American Planning Association and recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute program in 2024.
