A Sachse High School alumnus recently became the first recipient of the iWRITE Literacy Organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Wm. Patrick Cook achieved this honor by being the first author to be published in iWRITE’s annual anthology every year from 3rd to 12th grade.

“Wm. Patrick’s dedication to writing is nothing short of inspiring,” said Melissa Williams Murphy, founder of iWRITE.

The award was presented during the 15th annual iWRITE Literacy Festival on Saturday, Nov. 16, in Houston.

Additionally, Cook earned two Star Author Awards during his decade of participation in the publishing contest. He was awarded a publishing contract along with the Editor’s Choice Award in 2023.

The skills Cook cultivated over the years were put toward his debut book, “WP’s Life Depiction Through a Collection of Fiction,” which launched at this year’s literacy festival. The anthology features stories of young characters who rise to challenges, create positive change and leave a meaningful impact on the world.

The iWRITE Literacy Organization has played an important role in the author’s writing and publication journey. The organization creates curriculums to empower students and help them build the confidence it takes to share their voices with the world.

Currently a freshman at the University of Oklahoma, Cook continues to develop his talents to inspire other young authors and readers. Visit willie-p-the-author.com for more information on Cook’s works.
