The Sachse cross country team commenced the 2025 season by competing in the Plano ISD Cross Country Invitational, held last Saturday at Hoblitzelle Park in Plano.
Sachse’s boys finished in second place in the team standings with 74 points, while the Lady Mustangs captured sixth place with 166 points. Highland Park dominated in the boys’ division, with the Scots recording a team score of 54 points. Home School Athletic Association won first place in the boys’ division with 34 points.
Leading the way for the Sachse girls was junior Abigail Leonard, who ran to fifth place with a time of 12:05.
Sophomore Alicia Payne turned in the second-fastest time for the Lady Mustangs, clocking a time of 13:28 – good for 27th place. Senior Maicen Keefer finished in 48th place with a time of 13:59. Sophomore Adeline Moss captured 51stplace with a time of 14 minutes and just two seconds behind her was freshman Kaitlyn Herrera, who finished in 52ndplace.
Sophomore Arora Ngo (63rd, 14:17), senior Keiry Guadarrama (67th, 14:23), senior Madison Keefer (74th, 14:31), senior Sophia Olade Taylor (86th place, 15:01) and junior Brighton Cook (103rd, 15:55) also ran for Sachse in Plano.
On the boys’ side, junior Samuel Ledbetter led the way for Sachse, running to sixth place with a time of 10 minutes, 20 seconds.
Overall, it was a balanced effort for the Mustangs, who placed four runners in the top 20. Sophomore Dominic Richardson ran to eighth place in a time of 10:25. Sophomore Sadiki Mburu finished in 16th place with a time of 10:41. Senior Roman Rabel was 20th with a time of 10:47.
Junior Ozzy Heredia ran to 24th place with a time of 10:53.
