The Sachse City Council on Monday advanced plans for a new public works service center, authorizing the next phase of a $17.1 million project expected to be completed by summer 2027.
During its Monday, March 2 meeting, council voted to proceed with an agreement outlining construction details for the facility and authorized City Manager Gina Nash to move forward. Public Works Director Corey Nesbit said the project should be finished by the summer of 2027.
The new service center will be built at 6420 Sachse Road, the site of the current public works facility. The city plans to construct the new complex around the existing center before demolishing the old structures. The site will also include green space for parks and recreational use.
Council previously approved a maximum construction price of $15,369,187. The total project cost is set at $17,126,222. About 66% of the cost will be covered by utility fees, with the remaining 34% funded through the general fund.
