Voters in Sachse delivered a result in one City Council race and set up a runoff in another during the May 2 general election, according to unofficial returns.
In the race for Councilmember Place 3, incumbent Frank Millsap won outright with 941 votes, or 53.04%, defeating Laura Tovar, who received 833 votes, or 46.96%. Because Millsap secured more than 50% of the vote, no runoff is required.
The four-candidate contest for Councilmember Place 4, currently held by Chance Lindsey, did not produce a majority winner. Gurvinder Singh led the field with 825 votes (45.91%), followed by Tim Legh-Page with 659 votes (36.67%). Alan Bell received 220 votes (12.24%), and Beau Hooten finished with 93 votes (5.18%).
Since no candidate for Place 4 received more than 50% of the vote, Singh and Legh-Page are expected to advance to a runoff election scheduled for June 13. Additional details will be announced by the city.
A total of 1,797 votes were cast in the Place 4 race, compared with 1,774 votes in the Place 3 contest.
Overall turnout totaled 1,814 ballots cast out of 20,587 registered voters, for a combined turnout of 8.81%. Dallas County accounted for 1,114 votes, while Collin County reported 700 votes.
The results remain unofficial until canvassed by the Sachse City Council. Canvassing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at 6 p.m. during a special City Council meeting.
